Marv Bateman (Marvin F. Bateman) was born on April 5, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After going to high school at Highland (Salt Lake City, UT), Bateman attended The Univesity of Utah. Bateman made his professional debut in the NFL in 1972 with the Dallas Cowboys. He played for the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1976 was Marv Bateman's best year, as he dropped 16 punts inside the 20 and had a 42.8 yard punt average. He also made All- Pro that year.
