Marty Wendell (Martin Peter Wendell) was born on November 22, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at St. George (Evanston, IL), Wendell attended the University of Notre Dame. Wendell made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1949 with the Chicago Hornets. He played for the Chicago Hornets for his entire 1 year career.
