Markieth Knowlton
[edit] BiographyAcquired: Signed with B.C. as a free agent on April 27, 2006. 2006: Knowlton made his professional debut in Week 4 at Edmonton (July 7/06). Recorded his first pro interception at Montreal in Week 11 (September 1/06) which he returned 67 yards for a TD. Chalked up eight defensive tackles and 14 special teams stops, three pass knockdowns and a forced fumble through 15 regular season appearances. Markeith added a special teams stop in the West Championship as well as a defensive tackle and special teams tackle in the Grey Cup. Was not selected in the 2004 NFL Draft after a 4-year career at North Texas. Had a brief tryout with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL in April 2005. College: 2004: Switched from safety to the corner midway through his career at North Texas and has played all four spots in the secondary. Became a full-time starter at North Texas in his final two seasons. Appeared in 46 career games for the Mean Green racking up 193 tackles and 10 interceptions. Personal: Markeith lists his parents as his biggest fans. Considers a late season interception for North Texas to seal a bowl bid (New Orleans Bowl) as one of his biggest football moments to date – the quarterback he picked off was current Lions QB Buck Pierce. In fact, Markeith and Lions QB Buck Pierce played against one another numerous times in college with Markeith’s North Texas squad winning each time. He enjoys hunting and fishing in the off season as well as making appearances at local hospitals.
