Mark Word (Mark Bernard Word) was born on November 23, 1975 in Miami, Florida. After going to high school at Southridge (Miami, FL), Word attended Hinds Community College and Jacksonville State University. Word made his professional debut in the NFL in 1999 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs over the course of his 3 year career.

Most people believe that 2002 was Mark Word's best year, as he recorded 8 sacks.
