[edit] BiographyAcquired: Signed as a free agent 2003 2005: Was the Lions leading tackler at the point he sustained a broken collar bone in the 11th game. Returned for the final regular season contest and the West Championship vs Edmonton. The Lions were 11-1 with Mark in the lineup and 1-5 without him in 2005. 2004: Matched his career-high with 3 interceptions and also made two fumble recoveries. Third on the team with 60 total tackles. 2003: His nose for the ball and 70 tackles earned him a spot on the West Division All-Star Team, his first such honour in his CFL career. Played six seasons for Montreal grabbing 9 interceptions and 7 fumble recoveries for 2 defensive touchdowns. Accomplishments: 2004:BC Lions award nominee for the Tom Pate award. 2003: Named to the West Division All-Star team. 2002: Won a Grey Cup. 1997: Won the World Bowl. College: Attended Rutgers University where he was team captain as a senior and majored in Industrial Engineering. As a junior he was an All-Big East performer in 1994. Personal: Washington lives by the words of his father George, who said “In the end, always do what is right and stay focused. His favourite football moment to date was winning the 2002 Grey Cup with the Montreal Alouettes. In 2003, Washington was honoured with the Fred Dietrich Award as the most inspirational BC Lions player. He enjoys traveling, particularly to Barcelona, eating exotic foods such as Ox Tails (a Jamaican dish), and the movie The Passion of the Christ. Mark graduated from Rutgers with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He and his wife Judith have one child, Imani.
