Born on October 30, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, Mark Portugal (Mark Steven Portugal) played for the Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 15 year career. Portugal broke into the bigs on August 14, 1985 with the Minnesota Twins, and put up a 4.31 ERA in 112.2 innings pitched in 1986, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mark Portugal's best season was 1993, when he posted a 2.77 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 131 batters.
