Born on September 23, 1943 in Havana, Cuba, Marcelino Lopez (Marcelino Pons Lopez) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 8 year career. Lopez broke into the bigs on April 14, 1963 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.93 ERA in 215.1 innings pitched in 1965, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Marcelino Lopez's best season was 1965, when he posted a 2.93 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 122 batters.
