Manny Mota (Manuel Rafael (Geronimo) Mota) was born on February 18, 1938 in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic). He made his Major League debut on April 16, 1962 for the San Francisco Giants. In 1964, his rookie year, he hit .277 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI. Mota played for the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Montreal Expos and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 17 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Manny Mota's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1972, when he hit for a .323 average. However, others believe that it was 1970, when he hit for a .305 average.
