Manning Award
The Manning Award is one of the newer awards in major college football, being awarded for the first time after the 2004 season. It is one of three awards that recognzie a college quarterback, the other two being the Davey O'Brien Award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The award is presented by the Sugar Bowl Committee, and was named in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie Manning and his sons Peyton and Eli.
It is unique among individual college football awards in that it is not awarded until after all bowl games have been played. This means that each year's award is given in the following calendar year (e.g., the inaugural 2004 award was handed out in 2005).
