Making the Correct Decision (Westbrook or Bush)

How difficult is it to rate quality running backs from a fantasy football perspective then make the correct decision on which player to choose? The Brian Westbrook or Reggie Bush option is another dilemma that you may find yourself in during the mid/late first round of your fantasy draft. You should not go wrong drafting either back, however, making the correct decision will help you rest easier and win a few more games this season.
When comparing overall running styles and pass catching abilities these two backs are identical in every aspect... quick, explosive, elusive, and playing with good quarterbacks on NFC contenders.
Always a dangerous threat as a pass catcher, Westbrook coming off of his best season as a professional finally had the opportunity to showcase his abilities as a runner. Entering the prime of his career at 28 years old Westbrook could very easily have the best season of his career in 2007. However, the big question is…will the passing of Donovan McNabb once again interfere with the Philadelphia running game? Playing in the toughest rivalry division in the NFL the Eagles may have to depend on McNabb’s passing game.
Even though it took Bush a full eight weeks to “show up”, he finally became a huge part of the New Orleans game plan and found his groove by managing 8 touchdowns over the final eight regular season games. Bush has a tremendous upside, however, Deuce McAllister remains present in the New Orleans running game and may continue to take alot of the tough yards away from Bush. Is this the season where we see two one-thousand yard rushers on the same team?
Westbrook may not be the better option if you look at his entire career. He has played well, but he has not managed to put in a full sixteen weeks in any season as a professional. It also concerns me that after his 5th season in the league Westbrook finally broke a thousand yards rushing. Not to mention, Bush had a better rookie campaign than Westbrook had in 3 or his 5 seasons. Bush’s has a higher keeper value, plays 10 games indoors this season, and is no longer a rookie.
After further research and comparing these two backs, if presented with this option I would have to select Reggie Bush.
