Making a Maas of Things

Profootballtalk.com reports that ex-Chief and current FOX Sports commentator Bill Maas has been arrested on felony drug and felony weapon charges after being pulled over in Illinois with a loaded .22 revolver and substantial amounts of drugs and alcohol.

Police pulled Maas over at a roadside checkpoint in East Peoria, Illinois. The police thought that Maas was acting nervous, so they asked for permission to search his car.

He agreed to the search.

In his car they found the .22 revolver, 5 grams of marijuana, 6 grams of cocaine, and 28 ecstasy pills.

Maas spent nine years with the Chiefs and one with the Packers. He has been a commentator with FOX Sports but was only given spot duty last year. Chances are, he won't be coming back.

This could explain Mass' decline in his broadcasts during the NFL season last year. Actually, if memory serves me right, he didn't even broadcast for weeks on end. It is a shame. I hope this is rock bottom for him, and he can clean his act up.

There was a case in Britain where a cricket commentator (of all sports) was taking loads of coke and had to give up his job. I remember listening to the guy with my brother and both looking at each other wondering what the nutter was going on about during the period of time which he later admitted that he was so constantly wasted that there are whole weeks he cannot remember. In all it can probably be surmised that narcotics do not a good commentator make.

i'm sorry he is having problems but he was just one of many rams announcers that proved they were no longer the greatest show on any surface. i do hope he gets healthy though.
