Magic 8-Ball's baseball predictions

by user Manny Stiles

A little slow today... I took my Magic 8 Ball from my desk and asked it a eight simple baseball questions pertaining to each league:

Ok, Magic 8 Ball, baseball is heating up. Let's find out who will and who won't make the playoffs!

I look at 8 Ball... 8 Ball sits quietly and concentrates on the task. It even seems to be taunting me with it's quietness.

Let's start in the NL...

ok, 8 Ball, here we go...

Question 1- Does the NL stand a chance?

8 Ball - "Yes, Definitely" (I forgot toask WHAT they stand a chance at)

Question 2- Will the Mets hold on to the division lead?

8 Ball - "It Is Certain" (there goes my fun of teasing Mets fans, I'm jumping on the bandwagon!!! Go Amazins!)

Question 3- Are the Braves done?

8 Ball - "Cannot Predict now" (son of a ... )

Question 4- Are the Reds for real?

8 Ball - "Very Doubtful" (huh? go figure!)

Question 5- Will the Cardinals win the NL Central?

8 Ball - "Concentrate and Ask Again" (ok)

Question 5b- Will the St Louis Cardinals win their division, the NL Central this year?

8 Ball - "It is Decidedly So" (why was that so tough 8 Ball?)

Question 6- Will the NL Wild Card come from the NL Central?

8 Ball - "Don't Count On It" (guess it will be a last game of the season kinda thing)

Question 7- Will Arizona make a run at San Diego's division lead?

8 Ball - "Outlook Good" (I should have asked a more specific question here)

Question 8- Will the Wild Card in the NL advance to the World Series this year?

8 Ball - "Most Likely" (sorry, Mets fans... unless you're hoping for the Braves to win the division)

Bonus Question - Will Barry Bonds retire (or be unable to return due to incarceration) after this season?

8 Ball - "Better not tell you now" (go figure... this story will get interesting)

Thanks Magic 8 Ball, lets go to the AL!

Question 1- Is the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry the best in sports?

8 Ball - "Without a Doubt" (even Magic 8 Ball has an East Coast bias)

Question 2- Do the Blue Jays have a chance to win the division?

8 Ball - "My Reply is No" (geez, thanks for letting me have no fun teasing NY fans)

Question 3- Will the Wild Card come from the AL EAST?

8 Ball - "Signs point to Yes" (deadpans... yippee)

Question 4- Will the Yankees make a major move before the trade deadline?

8 Ball - "Don't Count On It" (Sidney Ponson may be the biggest fish they catch!)

Question 5- Can the Tigers hold on in the Central?

8 Ball - "YES" (I guess that means no repeat for the Pale Hose)

Question 6- Is Oakland going to win the AL West?

8 Ball - "Signs Point to Yes" (go A's)

Question 7- Is a Wild Card team advancing to the Series from the AL?

8 Ball - "Very Doubtful" (now we're getting somewhere)

Question 8- So We can safely assume the Red Sox will win the AL East and the Yankees get the Wild Card, but don't make the series, correct?

8 Ball - "Outlook Good" (take that Yankee fans!)

So there you have it! The 8 Ball never lies!

It's either going to be the Braves, Diamondbacks, or the Padres versus the Tigers, Red Sox or A's in the World Series!!! Glad to help clear up the confusion...can't wait until October!

Instead of these 16 (18) questions, you shouldve just asked "Who will win the World Series", that wouldve saved you a lot of time.

This was an amusing article. Good work. Though I'm a little disappointed in the 8 Ball's decisions on the NL Central.

At least it says it doesn't, but even you said it had an East Coast bias, which means it's like every other outlet that says it doesn't play favorites.

+ Corey! Well, Magic 8 Ball was originally invented by Abe Bookman of the Alabe Crafts Company in Cincinnati in 1946; so predates East Coast Bias. However, my particular 8 ball was manufactured somewhere between 1989 - 1991. So, ya got me!

Wow someone besides me is giving the D-Backs creadit even if they happen to be a blillard filed with blue colored water and a triangle with answers on it, but hey at least someone else will come out and say that the D-Backs have a chance at the play-offs.

Googled this site because have an "official Supernatural Leage Fortune Teller Magic Baseball". It is dated Pat. 1948 from Alabe Crafts, INc Cincinnati 2, Ohio USA. Looks like the Magic 8 Ball but white with red stiching as a baseball. Just thought this would interest someone. Jim
