Maddux Gets Win No. 5

11
Vote

What's gotten into Greg Maddux? Last night the hurlder recorded his fifth win of the season. For the first time in his long career, Maddux is 5-0 in his first five starts. He gave up two runs -- the most he's allowed in a start all season -- over six innings on Friday as the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-2. Ronny Cedeno hit a two-run homer and Jacque Jones added a solo shot to back Maddux, who notched career win No. 323 and improved to 13-3 lifetime against the Brewers.

He has not broken the 100 pitch limit in any of his starts, so it looks like another healthy 200+ innings for the 40-year-old. Maddux is something special.

he really is. I don't understand how he can keep his pitch counts so low . . . good point.

I looked at his pitch counts again and he has only broken 90 pitches once(93 pitches). That was a seven inning start against the Cardinals.
