MLB Power Watch: August 11

by user Timothy Moreland(Bball3345)

After the first few weeks of the season, all ESPN could talk about was the increase in HRs. They put forth their theories about juiced balls or pitchers coming off of steroids. The first chart shows there was, as of April 23rd, indeed a huge jump in power. The second chart, which was updated May 17th, shows the power had fallen back closer to what it should be.

ISO = (2B + 3B + HR*3) / AB. Triples are weighted the same as doubles, unlike in SLG, because a triple generally is a sign of speed, not power

Since May, the AL has stayed the same, while the NL has risen to its highest point since 2001. Last year's drop in power may have been due to steroid testing; however, power appears as if it is here to stay.

Can someone that's knowlegable in Wiki put those three tables together in the same line so they're a little easier to compare? Plus I'd like to see how you do it so I can know how it works.
