MLBPA Baseball or Fighting Baseball as it is known in Japan is a sports game for the Super NES, Mega Drive/Genesis, and Game Gear where the player has to deal with real MLB cities and player names, but they couldn't use the actual team names, as it lacked an MLB license. It was able to feature all the 1993 MLB players and stats thanks to its MLBPA license (hence the name).
The game allowed the player to do a single game (with the default teams being Philadelphia at Toronto; the 1993 league champs), full season (recorded by password in the SNES version, battery back-up for Genesis; this used the scheduled 1994 season/calendar and the player could mark which games he/she wanted to play that day and even skip over days), League Playoff, and The [World] Series. In addition to the "huge arcade style graphics" as stated on the back of the SNES version, games could be played on either natural or artifical grass (depending on home team) as well as day and nigt games. Finally, the game did score board animations whenever the home team got a double/triple play, home run/grand slam, pitching change/pinch hitter, strike out, or even a "Play Ball!" screen for the game's start.
Under ZSNES, the game tends to freeze at random spots in the game (a similar effect occurs in the NHL series and the Madden series). The audience sound is muffled by limitations of the 16-bit sound engine of the Super NES.
