MLB's All-Bargain and All-Rip off Teams

by Ccampbell34

All Bargain Team contains best players statistic-wise paid under $500,000 a year, while the All Rip off Team is vice versa with salaries $10,000,000 and up with the exception of 2nd Base where no player is paid that amount. Relievers happen to be All Stars for the All Rip Off team considering they are the only two relieving pitchers paid over 10 mil, however, considering you could have almost two All Bargain teams for that price, it still seems like a rip off.

All Bargain Team salary came to $6,465,300

All Rip off Team salary falls at $194,586,864

Great list....Pavano, Hampton and Schmidt should get arrested for stealing money since they probably didn't pitch 100 innings between them and probably less.

Did you consider Roger Clemens, or do you only take players that play for the entire year?

Take a look at these stats:

I don't think almost ANY relief pitchers should receive over 10 million.

Absolutely. I bet if the highest wage in MLB was about $100,000 per year, rather than $10,000,000, there would be do steroid problems in the sport.

Believing no closer deserves over $10 mill is different then him being a ripoff.

Aren't the young players restricted until the end of the third year of their contract? At which point, they would earn the millions of dollars per year contracts?

Exactly. All of these guys are so friggin' young, and many (almost all of them) just finished their second and third years in the majors without any contract renewals. I think the only person that deserves to be on there is Scott Kazmir, since he's already been in the MLB for 4 years.

No Barry Zito on the All-Ripoff Team? He's at the top of that list in my mind.

Ten years from now I want to look back and see which players from the All-Bargain Team graduate to the All-Rip Off Team.

Like Meg wrote Barry Zito should be at top of list since he pitched all season and had a terrible year while most of the others didn't even pitch.

In a few years the Brewers may not be able to afford Braun and Fielder and have to let one of them go.

That's why they're already trying to work out a contract with Fielder. They don't want to wait for him to decide he wants to test the free agent waters.

Not bad but Rivera don't belong there with 30 saves. He's still by far the best the Yankees have.

They still may be young, but using that mentality has gotten Colorado and Cleveland into their respective Championship Series. Rivera and Wagner are great pitchers, I just don't believe 70 innings of Mariano Rivera is worth $10,000,000+. Same with a .222 batting average from Andruw Jones.

I believe that's true, to an extent. I mean, I could easily say that A-Rod doesn't deserve the money he's been getting from the Yankees, but look how well he's been doing with them.

I honestly would've put someone like Todd Jones in there. Sure, he earned 38 saves, but he also had a 4.26 ERA and a 1.418 WHIP. Not so great for a closer who got $4,809,159 in 2007.

Mariano didn't have his best year either, but I would be all right putting him on the list. I mean, the guy had over an ERA of 3.00, which is not so good for someone getting over $10,000,000.

I see your argument but I honestly still believe paying $10 mil for 70 innings is a ripoff. Todd Jones could be more of a rip off, honestly the list isn't perfect, but it shows that there is potential for an all-star lineup for under 7 mil and overpaid players for 195 mil. Maybe all bargain and overpaid teams would describe that better.
