[edit] BiographyAcquired: 2001 CFL Draft (1st Round, 4th overall) 2006: Started all 18 regular season games as well as the West Championship and Grey Cup. One of the CFL’s premier blocking backs, Green’s strong play in the backfield contributed to the club’s league-leading passing game in 2006. Lyle recorded two carries for 31 yards as well as six receptions for 35 yards and eight special teams tackles. 2005: One of nine Lions offensive players to start all 18 regular season games. Posted career-high in receiving yards with 261 and caught a 30-yard TD pass on Oct 22/05 vs Winnipeg. 2004: Had a career-high 22 receptions for 248 yards. 2002: Posted career-bests of 60 carries and 343 yards rushing. Notable: Lyle reached the 100 games-played plateau versus Montreal on September 1/06 and has missed only one game in his 6-year Lions career while starting each of the last 55 regular season games. College: In 1998 and 1999, Green was an honour student at the University of Toledo. On the field, he made 35 receptions for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns during the 1999 season. In 1998, he was fourth on the team in rushing with 62 yards, caught ten passes for 110 yards, and scored one touchdown. Personal: In high school, Green played basketball, soccer, and track and field. He grew up idolizing fellow Ontarian Wayne Gretzky before emulating Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith. During his spare time, he enjoys reading, golf, playing other sports, and watching The Matrix. His most memorable sports moment to date is his first pro touchdown versus Ottawa during the 2002 season. His favourite charity is the SOS Children's Village, an organization that helps find homes for children.
