Luther Hayes (Luther E. Hayes) was born on January 1, 1939 in San Diego, California. After going to high school at Abraham Lincoln (San Diego, CA), Hayes attended the University of Southern California. Hayes made his professional debut in the AFL in 1961 with the San Diego Chargers. He played for the San Diego Chargers for his entire 1 year career.
