The Pats signed WR Troy Brown today, as reported on MVN.
I can't say I disagree with the signing. Brown should make the team, if only because he can find a position to make the roster on. He's a veteran presence that can help My Boy adapt. Beyond that, the signing allows Brown to remain a Patriot. It just makes sense to see that 83 in a patriots uniform for another season.
Beyond that, can you blame them for signing him? In a year with tons of Free Agent WR signings, they bring back the most class act in New England to show them the way to success as a Patriot. If he can do anything to help this team, it will be appretiated in a year with a major overhaul in players.
Beyond that, it makes 13 WR's that will enter camp with the Pats. 13!!!!! 13!!!! Thats more than twice the number than they will keep on the roster.
Here's the list:
- Troy Brown
- Bug Eyes
- Bam Childress
- Chris Dunlap
- Jabar Gaffney
- Chad Jackson
- C.J. Jones
- Kelvin Kight
- Randy Moss
- Johnathan Smith
- Donte’ Stallworth
- Kelley Washington
- Wes Welker
Of those 13, 7 have a legitimate shot at making the roster (Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Gaffney, Caldwell, Washington, Brown), 1 on the IR (Jackson), and at least one that will end up on the Practice Squad (Childress). That's awesome. Can you say MVP for a certain QB?.
