Lu Blue (Luzerne Atwell Blue) was born on March 5, 1897 in Washington, D.C.. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1921 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1921, his rookie year, he hit .308 with 5 home runs and 75 RBI. Blue played for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Lu Blue's best season was 1928, when he hit for a .281 average and knocked in 80 runs.
