Louisville ?

What the heck happened to Louisville? Heisman hopeful Brian Brohm, good wide outs, decent runnning attack!

They lose to Kentucky (Ok i can deal with that) the very next week they fall to a Syracuse team that has had a hard time getting out of their own way!!! The talent is still there from last year. Is it maybe the new coach?

Does player-coach chemistry mean that much to a team. Is talent alone not enough in todays college football?

It seems to me that everyone (fans, coaches, recruiters, and players) have turned their focus to offense and nothing but offense! Seems the days of a dominating defense are heading towards a distant memory!

What happened to the phrase "offense wins games but defense wins championships" ? I personally would rather see a great defensive fight than a shoot-out any day.

Talent alone has never been enough in college football, just look at Michigan vs. App. St. And I dont think it is the coaching I think Louisvill just has a soft defense.

i think your first statement tells you all you need to know... "Brian Brahm, good wide outs, decent runnning attack!" well no where in there did you mention a decent defense. They've put up over 30 points the last two weeks, but if you can't defend anyone you're not gonna win too many games.

When a guy throws for 423 yards on 17 completions it shows that your defense is soft. You have to worry when Brohm has to throw 65 times that something may be wrong.

hell on top of that, Brohm's 555 yards were not the most for the day. Harrell for Texas Tech was 45/65 for 645 yards, five TD and no picks, and should have had a sixth, but it was dropped in the end zone by Crabtree with 19 seconds left, and Oklahoma State held off Texas Tech 49-45.

This loss really hurts west virginia. Their soft schedule is losing credibility because louisville was their best opponent and they are not as good as we thought

I think that you are right about this hurting west virginia, now we will just hear about how weak the west virginia schedule is even more than before. I dont think that the schedule is that weak compared to other teams in the top 5 I wrote an article about this same thing

Maybe it's time to admit that I wasn't wrong when I said that Big East fans need to stop whining about their conference not getting any credit. But hey - West Virginia sure looked great beating the crap out of ECU! Brohm is legit, their offense is legit, but they can't play defense. If you can't play defense, you can't win. Like you said. The Big East isn't that great.

Hey, if you think "defense wins championships" is dead, just look at the teams in the running for the championships. My rankings LSU, USC, OU, FL, WVU. All of them look like they have pretty stout defenses. ASwaff, I can't wait till we meet. Hope you go undefeated untill then. Good luck everyone. Boomer Sooner!

I hope we go undefeated 'til then as well. Though, I can't say I'm looking forward to the game that much. I'm fairly certain that OU will pummel us yet again. You have a really good looking team right now.

first year of new head coach, that lost key players on D, whose D has been coordinated so-so at best for the past 4 years by Mike Cassity. as a fan I was hoping they'd unload him for the new regime but that didn't happen. what has happened is that their D is even more laughable now than ever, in fact it may be the worst college Defense of all time. stink, stank, stunk. their pre-season ranking was based on potential b/c well obviously their O keeps rolling along like a juggernaut, but they also have a ton of new talent on D, but look what they did in their first 2 games this year, sure they won 73-10 vs Murray St but hey barely eeked it out vs Middle Tennessee State! I can't say I'm shocked they are now 2-2, you can't be a dominating team every single year, the new coaching staff will take some time to work out the kinks

I'm glad you think you can judge the whole big east just because Louisville is struggling.

Its quite possible that every other Big East team has improved from last year (WVU, Rutgers, Cincinnati, South Florida) Heck, this means even SYRACUSE improved somewhat...

All you can do is defeat the teams on your schedule. No amount of anti-Big East whining should allow a 1-loss team to get in the NCG over an undefeated WVU... Rutgers, maybe (which is entirely due to the preseason polls since I think they could very well beat WVU)

I don't think I can judge the entire Big East based only on Louisville's performance, and I've never said that. It's just another example to use in my argument. And it's just a tad early to start talking about one-loss teams versus undefeated teams in the national championship. We're just 4 games into the season. Don't get so far ahead of yourself.

this is the reason they play the game!! lets just wait and see how the bowls play out. maybe the big east will go undefeated in the bowls AGAIN. not that it would make any difference to all the big east haters. by no means am i calling the big east the BEST conference but i dont think you can call the the worst either. like ASWAFF said it is early in the season so lets just keep writing and see how it plays out
