Louie Long (Louis Charles Long) was born on January 6, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Taylor (TX), Long attended Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas. Long made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans for his entire 1 year career.
