Lou Smyth (Louis Lehman Smyth) was born on March 19, 1898 in Cleburne, Texas. After going to high school at Sherman (TX), Smyth attended Centre College and the University of Texas. Smyth made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Canton Bulldogs. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Canton Bulldogs the entire time. Smyth also played in the NFL for 5 years, playing for the Rochester Jeffersons, Canton Bulldogs and Providence Steam Roller over the course of his 5 year NFL career.
