Born on December 19, 1898 in Tabor, South Dakota, Lou Koupal (Louis Laddie Koupal) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Robins, Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 6 year career. Koupal broke into the bigs on April 17, 1925 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.96 ERA in 127 innings pitched in 1929, his rookie year.
