Angels Win 10-3.

Los Angeles Angels Schedule/Results

Jered Weaver continued to prove he belongs in the big leagues with a solid 6 and a third innings in a 10-3 win over the Indians. Backed by an Angel offense that has been MIA for most of the year, the rookie had no trouble improving his record to 2-0. Weaver gave up 2 runs in the 7th, but innings 1-6 were his, with his team spotting him 2 runs in the top of the inning, Weaver strode to the mound and struck out 3 of the first five batters he faced. On the night, he struck out 8 giving up 4 hits and two walks.

Jason Johnson on the other hand, struggled from the outset. He could not seem to find the strike zone in the first two innings, walking 4, but in the third he started to settle down, at one point retiring 7 in a row. Guillermo Mota, was not much better, giving up 5 runs in one and a third innings. While Johnson' problem was his walks, Mota has trouble keeping the ball in the park, giving up home runs to Dallas McPherson and Garret Anderson. Along with troubles on the mound, behind the Indian behind the plate had difficulties throwing as well. Tim Laker, who was giving Victor Martinez a break before a day game on Saturday, allowed 6 stolen bases.

Scoring Summary

First Inning
Vladimir Guerrero homered to left center with Cabrera on first. Angels 2-0.

Second Inning
With one out, McPherson drew a walk and steals second. Johnson walks Mike Napoli and the gives up a single to Adam Kennedy that scores McPherson. Figgins followed with a sac fly to center picking up his 16th RBI. Angels 4-0.

Sixth Inning
The trend of scoring in pairs continued in the 6th when Morales, who reached on a single and stole second, scores on a McPherson home run. Angels 6-0.

Seventh Inning
With one out in the seventh, Cabrera walks followed by a single by Guerrero. This sets the stage for Garret Anderson's 5th home run of the year.
In the bottom of the inning, the Indians finally get on the board. Casey Blake lined a single to center and is driven in by a double by Broussard. This knocks Weaver out of the game, but his replacement, Kevin Gregg, gives up a single to Belliard that brings in Broussard, but that would be all the Indians get. Angels lead 9-2.

Eighth Inning
With bases loaded, Tommy Murphy hits a sacrafice fly that socres Nappoli.
Jason Michaels hits his 4th home run of the year off Gregg to make the score 10-3. Angels win 10-3.
