Lon Knight (Alonzo P. Knight) was born on June 16, 1853 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1875 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1876, his rookie year, he hit .250 with 0 home runs and 24 RBI. Knight played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Worcester Ruby Legs, Detroit Wolverines and Providence Grays over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Lon Knight's best season was 1883, when he knocked in 53 runs.
