Yankees On Verge Of Signing.......

RICHIE SEXSON!!! OH THAT'S RICH!!!

You know my stance on baseball but since I see the Mariners splashed on evening local sports news, and I read the paper every day, I know it's clear that Washburn and Sexson suck.....a lot.

Well the M's released Mr. I Will Swing Even On A Wild Pitch not too long ago aaaaaaaaaaand........

They've reached a preliminary agreement, so he'll be playing first base against left handed pitching.

KD, what do you make of this?

This lockerroom post brought to you by the guy who constantly complains about the Yankees getting too much attention.

It has Seattle connections!

Also, I think this is hilarious, I would've put this up for the Red Sox as well or the Cubs or White Sox or a Japanese team.

If you only care about KD's opinion on this, why don't you just send him a message? ;)

If I can be allowed to respond: Sexson has been good against lefties this year, that's true. But the past couple of years, he's been awful against righties and lefties. And despite that, he's still better than whoever they're sending out there right now.

Heh, it joke you see.

KD is kinda the voice of the Yankees on AGM, so he's who I want to respond the most.

It was Bobby Murcer.

I knew this last week. The reason they didn't do anything sooner is so Sexson's waivers could expire first. If the Yankees had picked him up right away, they would have been responsible for the rest of his contract. By waiting til waivers expire, the Yankees will pay him the pro-rated minimum, which amounts to about 180 grand, give or take. The Mariners pay the rest.

Nothing more than a simple business decision.

Will he help the Yankees? He might, although probably not much. At least they didn't have to trade anyone to get him.

I don't see Bonds playing this season. I think no team at this point wants the controversy that will come with his signing. It's really a shame.

They want to win 40 games then that's fine.

They would only win three more games the rest of the season without Ichiro?

They can either trade him (an aging vet), win 40 and start rebuilding, or keep him, win 63 (their pace right now) and still have an awful season.

Baseball, more than any other sport, is about cutting bait when it's hopeless anyway.

It's quite possible Taytay. ;-)

The Rainiers are just as bad, when they had a chance to grab Lincecum they failed, and they won't get rid of Washburn and I don't know why they thought Silva was any good, maybe they got info from this guy.

As far as hitting goes forget it, no one on that team is consistent besides Ichiro. Keep him until he wants to go.

Then again, I'm not a baseball expert (I mean, I know the rules and most of the terminology but I'm just not into it), just a casual observer of the local teams.

That's exactly why they should consider trading him--gotta begin restocking the farm system. What's the point in Ichiro hitting consistently on a team what will struggle to get 60 wins?

I really think management is in the crapper, and they should do a revamp of the team, management, staff, popcorn guy, ticket guy, guy who operates the train near the field, keep the guys who have been good like JJ Putz and Ichiro, and put in some new guys.

Up to six months ago, I would have suggested my Rangers, but I think Nolan Ryan has taken away Jonboy's phone privileges (thank goodness!)

Trading Ichiro might be the best thing for the Mariners considering how much value you'd get for him. However, you'd risk completely alienating a fanbase which must already be pissed. If I'm the Mariners, I keep Ichiro, unless I'm offered 5 of the top 10 pitching prospects in the world.

Ichiro is untradeable.

1) He has a no-trade,

2) He's 35 years old,

3) He makes 20 million a season,

Ichiro may waive his no-trade for Boston or New York or Chicago, and even if the team which takes him agrees to pick up his contract, they sure won't give market value back, as picking up the $$ is the trade-off.

Good Riddence. As a Mariners fan, you can have Richie Sexson. I'm just glad he's off our team and onto someone else's. He is awful.
