This was the ESPN ticker for last night's LA Galaxy game:

Los Angeles 0 Toronto 0:

David Beckham (DNP)

Thats all that game needed to have. Thats the typical storyline for a MLS game.

The answer to making soccer work in the U.S. is out there... and then we have to change the name to "feetball" once and for all...

What else did you want the ticker to say..."LA kicked the ball more than Toronto?"

The guy who wrote this didn't even spell Beckman's name right... he's obviously slanted his view prior to posting this. "Toronto dives more then a submarine but still kisses their sister in Los Angeles" would be a headline for a hoser, eh?

This is stupid, Americans need to stop thinking that the only way soccer can be exciting is if 0-0 ain't the scoreline. Sure there are absolute stinkers, but there were plenty of tricks and amazing saves during the game.

yeah, but its the ticker...its all about numbers...otherwise only the score matters...you can't show "highlights" on a ticker

Why americans are slow to catch on to soccer

Why don't Americans like professional soccer? (I'm sure there's more too - they all seem to blur together)

Needless to say, your post has been done before.

I'm bored of these kind of things.

Take it from someone of the older crowd, the game is too slow for American use to watching football games with the scores up in the 40's & 50's. Now you watch the soccer games and all you see is people trying to get fouls called when they are barely touched. What is this the NBA. To many other sports to watch and most of the other games are faster and with more scoring. As a greatgrandfather I don't like the way the games are being played now and the injuries are mostly caused by bad play and someone coming up from behind and fouling the individual if it looks like he is going to score or have an open shot. The woman are more fun to watch because they basicly play by the rules and don't try to run over each other. You can certainly tell the difference between the European games and the Central and South American teams. Much more contact in the Central and South Americans play than with the Europeans. There is a certain team that is considered the dirtiest soccer team playing but I will let you figure that one out for yourselves.
