I knew this was coming and it is complete BS. BS. BS. Tiger Woods didnt have a bad day. He didnt do anything wrnog, he didnt mess up. He just didnt win the Masters, not a big deal, at all. The Sun will come up tomorrow and he is still the best goler in the world. The Tigers are a mess

BigPPup, Tiger Woods is apparently supposed to win every tournament for the rest of his life? Didn't you hear?

I'm pretty sure missing 5 gimme puts is a pretty bad day, especially when you're playing in the masters. Imagine a kicker missing 5 FGs in one game from within 30 yards.

Tiger lost the Masters on day 1 and 2 not on Sunday. He missed some close puts, but there is no giveme putt on one o the tighest greens on earth. Give some credit to Trever or winning the thing. Tiger is still Tiger adn will win 2 Majors this year.

There's no excuse for missing those puts BigPPup. they were all within 4-5 feet. And there's also no excuse for three-putting. Tiger had a bad day. And yes, those puts are pretty much gimmies. Especially the one where he was 2-3 feet away

clearly you don't understand that if you are a golfer that can compete for a major tournament, those are gimmie putts. You win masters because you know you can make those putts. It's not acceptable to bank 5 shots that would have put pressure on Immelman. And I don't care who you are, you don't three-putt. That's basic golf knowledge.

Rip the man to shreds because he did what everyone has done 1 mil times. I am not excusing him or the missed putts, but I hate that term gimme putt. Its like saying its an easy catch, or a gimme dunk, when its some idiot sitting on a couch who has never touched the rim or picked up a putter outside o putt putt

I heard once that the break point (I think it was called)--the distance that a golfer makes half of their putts--for amateurs was about three feet. For PGA pros, its nine feet. Even at Augusta, Tiger should have made three or four of those that he missed. He's got his game dialled in, but his putting has been the weakest part of his game for a while now, relatively speaking of course. If he makes those putts and really puts pressure on Immelman, he could have been one down, three to go this year.

that's not fair. I've got a fairly good short game, especially from my caddying experience which has helped me learn to read the greens. If I wanted to, I could probably become a decent golfer in less than a week

ok the putts weren't gimmes b/c its augusta and there fast as hell (probably running like a 13), but when ur Tiger Woods and your cocky as hell and you tell me your gonna win in your press conference make your freaking 5 footers big boy... and no one expects him to go wire to wire, we always expect him to come back on sunday and he choked

yeah, others do the same thing, and it's why they don't win. If you expect to compete, you make those putts. Just like in basketball, if you expect to compete for a title, you make your free throws and lay ups. Just like in football you convert on third and short if you expect to win.

If you want to compete, there are certain things that should be gimmies in sports.

And within 3 feet, it doesn't take a whole lot to make the put. If you can read greens and can control a putter, you should be able to make it.

country club hack. But it doesn't mean that I can't criticize him. I understand putting fairly well, and it's not acceptable if you're a top tour player to miss those putts. Just like we expect kickers in the NFL to make 40+ yard FGs. It doesn't make it easy, but that's why they're pro. Because they should be able to do it. Pas, no. As Taytay pointed out, pros should make a plurality of their putts from 9 feet or closer. Amateurs should be able to make a plurality of their putts from 3 feet or closer. A pro should at least be able to make 3 or 4 out of 5 3 foot putts, augusta or not.

Three foot putts can be tricky as hell if you're not careful. Tiger can miss those putts sometimes and so can you, FP. It's not the end of the world if you miss them.

If he missed 1 or 2, it wouldn't be an issue. He's human, I get it. But you don't miss 5, including 4 on the back 9 when you're in the hunt.

Tiger had the worse day, but in reality, it just makes him even more epic. The guy missed 5 shots that would have given him the tournament, on top of a disasterous first round. Yet, somehow, he finished in second place only 3 strokes behind Immelman. To think anyone could have such an epically poor first round, and several puts that even I could make, and finish second is beyond me

Tiger didn't really have a bad day. The problem was, in order to win Tiger had to have a great day and Immelman had to totally suck. Immelman played decent enough (although he tried to give it away at the end) and Tiger played just okay... he can't win every tournament and at least now we don't have to put up with the pointless Grand Slam talk.

Right on. Tiger had a better round on Sunday than Immelman, even with the missed putts, but had too much ground to make up. BigP is right: Tiger lost the Masters on Thursday and Friday. But he still had a bad day on Sunday because that's when they handed out the green jacket. You could read it on his face when he made the long putt on 17: Now it goes in?!? He knows that a few of those missed putts made the difference.

Not Tiger Woods. He had a nearly impossible feat required to win, especially since he has never won a major from behind.
