What's to Like?

Along the same lines, many years ago I had to tell my oldest son (now 14) that he couldn't focus on Hockey as his number one sport. We couldn't afford it.

It's the exact opposite of Soccer. Ice time is extremely expensive.

My attitude to divers - give them a good kick in the face, studs and all. Give them something to cry about. And send the divers off! What use is a booking!

It looked like alot of those guys were just acting like they were hurt to draw a red or a yellow card.

That's exactly what I hate in soccer...but how is that different from WR's selling a PI call, and Vlade Divac flopping against Shaq? It happens in almost every sport.

That's why soccer is best left to 8-year-olds who eat bugs.

This is why America sucks at soccer. If we put out a National team with an "american" attitude toward sports they should win easily, but with all the flopping they would get yellow carded right out of any game. Because the refs are half of the problem, they don't call flopping enough and they call reward flopping by calling penalties on the other team. They need to put a 2nd man out there, they never will, but they need to. Or at least let the sideline "referee assistants" be more involved.

This is also why the game won't catch on in America. Compare it to American football and tell me that flopping exists there! When a guy "sells" a pass interference he's usually sprawled out on the ground after tripping over another guys legs while running at full speed. That's not flopping, that's real, it may not be a penalty, but the guy really did fall.

The game looks like it's for wimps and that doesn't fly over here. If the game could fix that problem it would gain in popularity.

I love soccer and watch the World cup religiously every 4 years, but Mylf can't deal with the game at all due to this very issue and I have to say she is right.
