Voting for Athletes You Know Nothing about
I was editing a couple of MLB Player pages, and I found something that had me thinking. Take a look at the Doc Cramer page, and take a look at his stats.
2705 hits (top 100; 57th in a career), 1357 runs scored (top 100; 92nd in a career), and a .296 batting average.
Guess what people rated him on a scale of 1-5. The mean of the 23 votes that were submitted into the player page resulted in 1.43... and I rated him a 4! Now, I know that we all have different opinions about players, but a 1.43!? That just sucks! I've seen players play in 2 seasons in their career with a .230 BA, no power numbers, no speed numbers (good ones anyway), and still come up with about a 1.50 or so.
It's pathetic, and this is why I prefer editing over voting: you get to know more about the page/player (whatever you wanna call it), and THEN vote. That's what I do.
All I'm saying is that I just want some people to look at the stats before they vote... that's all. Please take this into consideration.
