Voting for Athletes You Know Nothing about

I was editing a couple of MLB Player pages, and I found something that had me thinking. Take a look at the Doc Cramer page, and take a look at his stats.

2705 hits (top 100; 57th in a career), 1357 runs scored (top 100; 92nd in a career), and a .296 batting average.

Guess what people rated him on a scale of 1-5. The mean of the 23 votes that were submitted into the player page resulted in 1.43... and I rated him a 4! Now, I know that we all have different opinions about players, but a 1.43!? That just sucks! I've seen players play in 2 seasons in their career with a .230 BA, no power numbers, no speed numbers (good ones anyway), and still come up with about a 1.50 or so.

It's pathetic, and this is why I prefer editing over voting: you get to know more about the page/player (whatever you wanna call it), and THEN vote. That's what I do.

All I'm saying is that I just want some people to look at the stats before they vote... that's all. Please take this into consideration.

Thanks BBB. I was wondering when someone would comment about this.

You know, the problem is that people get five points for each vote. This means they just go down the list and vote for everyone, regardless of what they know about them. I'm guilty of doing this from time to time, but I get bored of it after about 30 seconds. I think the best solution would be to change the format to one point per vote.

Okay, ten points... even more reason to change it.

1.43 to 1.76. Thanks guys, for making the voting look a bit more realistic. ;)
