Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. His 81 points is the second-most points in an NBA game. Kobe, and his Lakers play the San Antonio Spurs tomorrow in San Antonio at 9 PM on ESPN.

Do you think anyone will ever break Wilt Chamberlain's record of 100 points in one game???

I know. I agree with you Falcon (as well as Kelsdad). Back when Wilt Chamberlain was playing, he dominated the game. He collected 23 rebounds/game in his CAREER. He was had a total of 50.4 points/game in a season. NO one is ever gonna put up those numbers again.

The answer is no. I remember this...this game was the top story on Sportscenter, despite the fact the NFL had conference championships on the same day.

Well, it WAS pretty big. Being second on the all time list for points in a game. Kobe really showed that Canada sucks. J/K.

The problem is that to break it, it needs to be a big man. Remember most of Wilt's shots were layups. Kobe had to make space and drive the lane and do the work himself, while kind of ironically Wilt needed his teammates to get him the ball down low. Props to Kobe, I hate you, but man 81 was, is, and will be a big deal (even if someone gets to 101). So, in my opinion, for the 100 point mark to be broken it has to be a big man and it has to be a team effort. It'll be done in my lifetime. (Point of reference I'm 32, so with in the next 40-50 years.)

a big man who can shoot threes... three points vs two down low will make a BIG difference in the long run for the chance... but it doesn't matter because it'll never happen

I disagree, I think that will take away from the chance. Look at the FG% difference between a layup vs a 3-pointer. Then add in all the times he'd get fouled and add in an avg FT% and playing low only is way better for a big man than splitting any time up high.

It will be hard to be a big man and do it because it will be easier to score with a fast break offense. Also when dominant big men get the ball down low they get harassed by two or three defenders.
