Tonight's Stanley Cup Game Could Be the Last For a Legend
Bob Cole has been the staple of Hockey Night in Canada before Don Cherry ever came aboard. He has called thousands of games and is still going strong at the age of 76. And yes, that's the guy you are hearing on NHL 2K7
If the Wings clinch tonight, Cole will have called his final Stanley Cup game, as the CBC will reduce his work for the next season.
I've listened to Cole for much of the playoffs and in some cases he can keep his vintage performances like in game 3 of the Cup final, but other times like this one from 2 years ago tells me it's the right decision.
Earlier in this series, he called Sidney Crosby "Steve Crosby", and he doesn't even know which player was called for which penalty. He is showing senility and I think it's time for him to retire.
Jim Hughson will replace him as the #1 commentator and will likely be paired up with that dolt Greg Millen.
