Surprise! Surprise!

It seems like basketball is back in the ATL, folks. Atlanta defeated the Boston Celtics 97-92 with Joe Johnson seemingly unstoppable down the stretch and we have a 2-2 series. Imagine that the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics are the only two teams mired in a 2-2 series. Folks, forget Atlanta's record during the regular season. The trade for Bibby was a success and they are a much better team than their sub 500 record.

Comments please, this must be discussed as it is a stunning development.

Stunning? No.

However, if they win the series, it's the biggest upset in NBA Playoff History because of the team records.

Atlanta really have nothing to lose now, they have given us weaknesses in Boston like you've never seen before. They settled too much for the jumpshot and could not convert on the easy baskets. Most importantly, they failed to produce on the road.

Great win for Atlanta, entertaining game, and Josh Smith is RIDICULOUS!

Oh yeah, I don't give a crap about the Lakers game tonight.

The weakness exposed by Atlanta (and apparently "given" to you) is that when the Celtics don't play well, they tend to lose.

Would it just be easier if Boston was handed their titles now?

Stunning is the Hawks coming back from double digits down in the third quarter. This is one of those series where the Celtics figured they would win just by showing up. In the postseason, confidence breeds momentum, and the Hawks have more of both right now than Boston does. And Dre is right, the Hawks didn't get Mike Bibby for the regular season, they got him for right now.

Exactly. Now that the Hawks know that they can beat the Celtics, they now have the confidence and the momentum on their side right now. It's now the Celtics' turn to try and bring that back now that they are going back to Boston. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce all have the urge to win, as they are three tremendous players who have never won a championship in their respective careers. However, a team is not based on three players: it's based on the entire team, as well as the coach.

That crowd was electrifying and I think a lot of credit needs to be given to Mike Woodson, there were a lot of rumors that Atlanta could let him go in order for a more proven coach. No way does that happen now, This team played it's rear end off for him tonight. This team has heart and could take a punch. Boston had them on the ropes twice. The 1st time is when they got off to that roaring start and had a chance to run away with this game early, ATL came back and grabbed the lead by the end of the quarter!!!! Then of course when Boston grabbed a double-digit lead, here comes Atlanta again led by Joe Johnson and Josh Smith {who has proved to me that he's primed for greatness in this league}. I wondered if good basketball would ever return to the ATL, well no need to wonder now.

As someone who watched the C's all year...they have struggled with young run and gun teams but the thing about these teams is that they kill themselves, if those quick buckets dont drop its a wrap but not to worry the C's will win in 6

Atlanta has played great in the last two games, but they hardly got the Celtics' best effort. Tonight it was the free throw misses, getting 1 of 10 from the field to start the 4th quarter, and breakdowns in team defense. If the C's don't get back on track, Atlanta will win, but the series is still in the Celtics' hands.

I'm sure this is surprising all of us. Who would've thought that the Hawks would defeat the Celtics in the playoffs... TWICE! This just proves that "talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships" (said by Michael Jordan). Many people tend to underestimate the fact that records no longer matter when it comes to the playoffs. The playoffs are battles of the coaches, battles of stamina and who can hold their ground, as well as battles of will. Josh Smith is a beast, and so is Joe Johnson. With the veteran Mike Bibby leading the team, it looks like the Hawks actually have something to defeat the Celtics.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A best-of-seven playoff series, in any sport, is not over until the home team loses!

I like that Tyler, but what about the '91 World Series? Is that still going on because the home team never lost?

Hardly meant to be a burn. I actually like that quote a lot. But it's possible for a series to be over without the home team losing a single game, as happened in 1991 when the Braves and Twins won their home games in the World Series.
