Seattle sports drop off the edge of the abyss

Posted by Almightyjc

SONICS gone... Stolen from us, and allowed to be placed in OKC...

MARINERS falling uncontrollably...Now admit they are rebuilding...

UW Football ranked as one of worst in DI...still have not taken care of the problem...

SEAHAWKS, teetering on the edge of the abyss. Now Hasselbeck, not playing today...ugh

What is a Seattle Sports Fan to do? Can some one name a Sports Town in more disarray then mine?

We're close enough to Canada, so 3rd place isn't so bad!

They lost on Friday thanks to their craptacular secondary 27-20. So they are in 4th place but still have a playoff berth in their control.

No one wants to say it, but any city on the West Coast not named Los Angeles is not a sports city. The West Coast (outside of LA) is not a sports kind of place.

It's fact. That, and the teams suck.

LA is hardly a sports city. Those Celebs are the biggest bunch of front runners ever! I guarantee that if there were 3 straight seasons where the Lakers missed the playoffs and the Clippers made the playoffs then Jack would switch is his season tickets over. I'll give SF/"Bay Area" credit for being the best sports town on the West Coast.

oh low blow, with the Basketball game comment. So did the Ravens not deserve to be in the SB they won? Just because a team has a crappy QB, does not mean they did not deserve to be there. Why am I defending Da Bears? My point was, 9-7 division winner has just as good a chance in the playoffs as 13-3 does.

Significantly more teams win with the bye than not...

Ahh, just noticed, a Philly fan. You know exactly where I am. At least you have the Phillies this year. Hopefully Moyer can dazzle the Dodgers tonight. For the last several years, Seattle & Philly fans have always had at least one team close to the top. Seattle fans really have no where to go, no crutch this year. It is possible the SEAHAWKS can turn it around, but if Hasselbeck is out for any extended period of time, it will be unlikely.

its cyclical...

I wouldn't be too wary of the seahawks...no pain, no gain...let your terrible in game coach slog away at an injury riddled season before he leaves and you can start a new regime with a pretty good base and a nice top 10 pick...

Besides, would you rather make the playoffs as a 9-7 sacrificial lamb?

IDK- 9-7 might win the NFC West this year, and like in 2006 when everybody got hurt, everybody got healthy in time to Romo the COWBOYS, and took Da Bears to OT. So I would not say sacrificial lambs.

The seahawks aren't a bad team

They don't have A healthy receiver...their QB is hurt, the defense is injury riddled, they play in a weak division

Holmgren is not an ideal coach anymore and he's pretty much gone after this season. I'm sure seahawks fans are fine with this.

But if the Seahawks go 3-14, 4-12, or even 6-10, they should get a nice pick and since they're a good team, they should be capable of turning it around and winning the west next year...maybe even at 12-4 (coach pending of course).

Denver did this...and they got Jay Cutler...now look at them.

Its the nature of salary cap sports...bad teams get good picks, get rid of shitty old players, sign new good ones, draft other good players, and bam they're good again...

The seahawks have a chance to minimize the crappy time and be good again...

and as far as the 2006 Seahawks...beating a Romo-led cowboys in the playoffs and going to OT with any bears team this decade hardly means they're good... Come on now...bobble boy and Rex Grossman...really?

Yeah, Seattle's pretty bad. I was going to say Atlanta: there are some seriously apathetic fans here, the Braves suck, Thrashers suck, Falcons are going to start sucking any week now, the Hawks are going to miss the playoffs this year, etc. But at least UGA & Georgia Tech are doing well, and pro teams aren't relocating away from them... So I guess Seattle really does have everybody beat in terms of shitty sports situations.

ATL was a good shot though, they are close. UGA was suppose to compete for the National Championship this year, but most knew that was not going to happen in the SEC.

Sorry a team in a city full of Championships does not count IMO. how many times did the Cubs go to the World Series? Not winning it in a 100yrs is one thing. Never getting there is another. The BULLS kept the SONICS from winning in '96. Controversy kept the SEAHAWKS from winning the SB in '05. Da BEARS kept the SEAHAWKS from going to the SB back to back, (IMO)in '06. The MARINERS have "NEVER" been.
