Rick Sutcliffe Has Cancer

Posted by Romiezzo

Former MLB pitcher, Cy Young Award winner, and current ESPN baseball analyst, Rick Sutcliffe, has been diagnosed with cancer, according to ESPN.

Sutcliffe, 51, was diagnosed after a routine test during a physical revealed that he has a treatable and curable form of colon cancer. Sutcliffe will undergo chemotherapy and surgery over the next few months and said he hopes to make a healthy comeback later this year.

He and his family are definitely kept in my prayers and thoughts. I think the rest of AGM should show their support by posting a comment here, uploading a new avatar, or something.

My prayers are with him and his family too. Eventhough you said it is "treatable" nobody should have to go through this.

I agree, JR. Even though it's treatable, it is still harsh to go through. Until he is fully cured, I'm going to keep praying and hope he gets better.

This guy was a friggin' terrific pitcher for the Cubs.

And he has a WICKED sense of humor. One year, a few of his buddies put up a billboard with a huge picture of Rick sporting a very ugly haircut.

If anyone can find that pic, please let me know.

Why is that it's always the good guys who get cancer? What can't Michael Vick come down with testicular cancer or something. You can't die from it but it would be funny if he had to have his balls removed.

Best wishes to Sutcliffe and his family. As JR said, you hate to see anyone go through something like this.

Sutcliffe is one of the classier people in baseball. Have never heard a negative word spoken about him. Hope the doctors can get him on the road to recovery fast.
