Pool Tournament Draw Made
I have completed the draw for the 2008 ArmchairGM 8-ball Pool Championship. Click the link to see the draw. The games must be completed by the following dates:
- Qualifying Round, April 1st
- Quarter Finals, June 1st
- Semi Finals, September 1st
- Final, December 31st
So you have plenty of time for your game. Since there are 10 entries, there are already 2 Quarter Finals ready to be played. You may begin that game now. Similarly, if you complete your game a month before the completion date, then feel free to begin the next round if your opponent is ready.
You must arrange when you play between yourselves, i.e. discuss with them on their boards. When you have finished, fill in the score on the wiki page, or let me know and I'll do it. You may want to liveblof your pool game.
Also, do not put time limits on either of the Pool games, we need to be fair here. No forfeiting either (i.e. leaving the computer for an hour). Fairness is important.
Please feel free to being negotiations. I recommend playing in batches of 10 and 11 to finish. So the games go 10/11 apart from the final, which would be 10/10/11. 10 racks take no more than an hour. You may want to ignore the 10 cap completely, in which case fair enough, but it seems a good way of breaking up the game.
By the way, "best of 21 racks" is the same as a "race to 11". Best of 31 is a "race to 16".
[edit] Rankings for 2009
For a 2009 event, there would be a ranking system to generate seeds. It would work as follows:
- Three ranked players in the Mega Bowl of Pool get 3, 2, and 1 point each.
- From this event, the winner would get 5 points, runner-up 4, semi-finalists 3, quarter-finalists 2 and others 1.
- The sum of the two scores gives you a total, by which you are then sorted. First tiebreak is 2008 result.
- The Mega Bowl of Pool will be ignored in the 2010 event (i.e. it would be a 2-year system).
That's my suggestion anyway, but I'm open for alternatives, i.e. a 1 year system.
