Has anyone had the misfortune of having this injury? If so, I feel your pain. I just want to know what treatments work the best? Personally, I am up to chopping the stinking foot off at this point....

everyone with a foot has plantar fascia. I think you're referring to plantar fasciitis, or inflammation of the plantar fascia. It hurts like a bitch, lingers forever and seems to come back often. REST, then rest some more. ice will relieve the pain, but that won't rid the cause. See an orthopedic specialist and get inserts for your shoes made for YOUR foot. DON'T buy over-the-counter inserts, they are a waste of time. Get the proper inserts FOR YOU and you'll notice knee, hips and back pain go away, too. Worked wonders for me...I went into a foot specialist for an ingrown toenail and came out foot and back pain free for over 2 years!

Mark McGwire cured his with steriods. Carrying around 260# had nothing to do with your foot problems, eh Manny?

I didn't have foot problems! I have really high arches and some history of ankle damage, but I've had back issues for years (it sucks being tall). I went to get an ingrown toenail fixed and the foot guy was an ortho specialist/foot wizard. He looked at my feet and asked me if I had back pains at all. I said "occasionally" and he had me fitted me for inserts that day. I got them in a week and WORLD's of difference. They hurt a little a first, but within a few days I felt way better. the Doc says EVERYONE should get custom inserts made.

I have a good friend who is a physical therapist, actually does contract work for the Mariners in spring training. You know why hockey players don't suffer from this, but most every other sport does? Because the average individual wears shoes which don't fit. The plantar is the thin sheath that covers the top of your foot, the irritation comes from turning and twisting your foot as it moves in your shoe, especially if you wear multiple pairs of socks or don't tie the shoe correctly. Hockey players are in most cases barefoot in their skates, or sometimes will wear ladies support hose. Custom made footwear don't allow the foot to move. Ever see a football player with his shoes taped? If his shoes fit, there would be no reason to tape them.

Not only do people NOT buy shoes that fit right, most people don't realize their foot size can change and they were never sized right to begin with!

THEY'RE YOUR FEET, PEOPLE! Everything above them gets affected when you stand or walk, like links in a chain - your feet are the first link to gravity!

Also, all of the ends of your nerves end AT YOUR FEET! You are sending electronic signals through the nerves through all of your organs, tissues, life energies, chakras, etc... up to and including your brain. If your feet are misaligned, the whole skeletal structure will be misaligned. If your feet hurt, your whole body pays the price.

there's so many idiots out there trying to squat a ton at a time and running 30 miles a day yet they don't ever stop to think about their feet unless there's something wrong. Sorry, but I want to be able to get around on my own when I'm 90. Enjoy your bowlegged squats and pigeon-toed running, fools.
