Jacque Jones. Good move for the Tigers... bad move for the Cubs, don't you think?

Any thoughts on this trade?

Cubs unloaded about $4 mil in salary with this trade, which might mean they're prepared to make a run at someone on the free agent market. Problem is, the Cubs roster was filled with mediocre utilitymen -- aside from Ramirez, Soriano and Lee, of course -- so what good is adding another?

Well, they don't have Neifi Perez anymore. So, that's a good start, isn't it?

Speaking of mediocre utility guys, Milwaukee is hardly a team to talk. Last I checked you had Craig Counsell and Tony Graffanino chewing up roster spots. Hell, I would consider Rickie Weeks a subpar utility guy with his lack of ability with the stick.

The Cubs are clearing some space moneywise and player openings for some type of signing. Gone are JJones, Cliff Floyd, and now Craig Monroe. I am hoping on the Japanese player Fukudome. His stats look pretty over there but how will he do in the MLB is the question.

Oh, and Jorge Posada and the Yanks have agreed to a 4 year $52 million contract. Do the math: $13 million a year. Not bad.

Perhaps that should've taken precedence over Omar Infante...

Posada will be getting paid well for a catcher his age but his real value is handling the youngsters who will be on the staff all season for the first time like Hughes and Kennedy.

Players like Infante are a dime a dozen...Cubs haven't had a standout shortstop for years since can't count Garciaparra because he was hurt so much.

good line about Boras...his players probably never sign for less than a million unless they get the major league minimum of $390,000 for 2008 and goes to $400,000 in 2009...not bad for playing a game.

The Cubs had to trade Monroe. They have a rule of only 1 "ex Tiger at a time". IF Infante makes the team he will be on the bench his arm is NOT good for SS. JJones was not a fan favorite his start last year was terrible but he hit over .330 after the all star break.

Craig Monroe really tanked for the Tigers last year...it was a shock when he was released but he wasn't doing anything to help the team...looks the Cubs have seen all they want of Monroe too...now it is Twins turn to see what he can do with them.
