Olympic Thread Day 4 (SPOILERS)

Posted by SSreporters

China has the most gold medals and medals overall after 3 days of Olympic competition, with the USA a very close 2nd.

The South Koreans beat Italy in archery to win gold.......again.

The USA women's basketball team crushed China 108-63 in pool play.

Cuba hammered the US women's indoor volleyball team, winning 3 sets to 0.

Jujie Luan, a 50 year old fencer representing Canada (she won gold in the '84 games representing her native China), was eliminated in the 2nd round of this tournament by Aide Mohamed of Hungary 15-7, after winning her first match earlier in the day.

The NBA on NBC theme song is back! Too bad this happens once every 4 years.

Water polo, more swimming finals (including the 200m freestyle with Michael Phelps), beach volleyball, softball, and gymnastics to look out for in day 4 of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.

Of course this morning is the big women's football match between Canada and Sweden. Canada need a draw for a guaranteed quarterfinal spot, while Sweden need a win to be in the top 2, or else they'll have to hope they're one of the two best third place teams.

Canada will probably advance anyway. I don't see NZ or Japan winning, nor Argentina in Canada's group.

I still remember in 2003 when the Canadians led Sweden during the World Cup semifinals, which was funny to think they were closer to the final than the US (who got blown out by Germany the day before).

1:43:86 the world record.

Phelps with a big lead and he's not normally a fast started, Meichtry in 2nd, Phelps at world record pace. He is dominating this race!

Stroke after stroke he is now 1.25 seconds ahead of Park Taehwan in lane 5.

The final 100m, Phelps continues to crush everyone.

Vanderkaay looking for silver as Phelps is crushing the world record again! The final 25m here.

Phelps gets GOLD #3! And a world record time of 1:42:96!!!!

He led from start to finish, as Park Taehwan finishes with the silver and Vanderkaay finishes with the bronze.

Chalk up 2 more medals for the Americans, 1 more for Phelps and Park.

Phelps is just super human, and if he can win in the other relays I think he will get all 8 golds.

Things aren't all rosy for Canadians, as I have on the water polo stream too and their guys just lost to Montenegro, 12-0.

Since I don't live near the Canadian border, the fact this is about two Canadian teams in coincidental.

In other swimming news, just minutes ago, Natalia Coughlin became the first Olympian in history to successfully defend her 100m backstroke title, beating out Kirstie Coventry of Zimbabwe. Coventry's poor start was a big factor as Coughlin led from start to finish.

Margaret Hoelzer, also of the US, claimed bronze.

1) I'm sure you'd comment about it without any hint of insight.

2) It might be the first thing that came out of your head that YOU produced.

my response is specific to your comment above it, and I couldn't give a damn whether Justin addressed it or not. I'm not up for making bold threats or "demerits". I'm just simply telling you that I think you crossed the line in terms of what is appropriate. If you're going to be an ass, I'm going to call you out in public, Manny. There's a difference between being inappropriate and being just straight up rude, and in the second case, I'll call you out in public

Isn't publically calling me an "ass" in fact, acting rude and inappropriate? And I think you're crossing the line of what I think is appropriate because you took a clearly dead issue and are now breathing unneccessary life into it... isn't that what got you into so many messes before?

something about seeing on SSR's profile that he's leaving AGM gives me a hint that obviously something's up.

Additionally, something about addressing me as "ma'am" and then proceeding to assume that we've somehow moved on (when in reality, this is the second time Users have threatened to, or left, recently because of your insistence to mock people instead of actually respond) classifies you as an ass in my book.

But you want to know what? You can think i'm rude. I DON'T CARE. You've driven away several users because of your selfish agenda. That's a lot worse than anything I've done

2) People in ass houses shouldn't throw mocks.

3) Rude? Do you think I care if you care or not? I don't even care if you think I care if you care or not.

4) People come and go regardless of my actions - good and bad.

5) If SSR really leaves AGM, does that mean I get to be the Grand Marshall of the parade? Or do I even care? (It's rhetorical)

you act like just manny got sick of his shit...

he's a good kid, but he needs to learn a lesson (I hope his reading this too)...

Manny/Erik/Ekom/Whatever you wanna call him, can be a dick, he can be overpower, frustrating and what have you...and I've said that about it to his face (internet-wise) and behind his back.

Fact of the matter is, we all have to deal with each other

But beyond that, about a year ago (or so) many gave me, what I considered, some fairly valuable advice...which basically said, stop commenting so much...which was the #1 commenter telling the #2 commenter something...

I did slow down my commenting, but only because of his point behind that...which was, don't say (type) something unless its worth typing...

in SSRs case, it was more sitescout pollution than actual valuable (as valuable as they can be, i suppose) comments...

Other Users Manny's helped remove?

Tyrone/Jamel - Meh

Beast (give or take) - no comment from me

Niteowl - Yeah, that was all Manny's doing </Sarcasm>...those who kept their eye on the situation knew exactly what was going on

SSR - I hope he comes back, but he's learning a lesson in the process. Its great to have an opinion on everything and have lots of great thoughts, but its better to learn from others and acknowledge their strengths...

Looking at the way the Olympic doubles works, the Bryans have a nice advantage. Because teams have to come from the same nation, other top teams are temporarily broken up (after all, on the ATP tour nationality doesn't matter).
