SS, What do you think of the Knicks hiring Mike D'Antoni. I'm of the opinion that he is not a good fit, I wrote a strongly worded article against the hire this morning. Some members of this site think it's a good move, Yet, Jon Barry and Stephen A don't like it. What are your thoughts?

I think Avery Johnson should've gotten the job. D'Antoni is dealing with an unbearably incompetent team and unless they wow me during the offseason, he is just setting himself up for failure.

I would have preferred an Avery Johnson, Mark Jackson or Tom Thibedeau. Therew wouldn't have been much of an expectation from Jackson or Thibedeau since they would be new and thus they would have been given more of a window. With D'Antoni, this team is going to require a massive overhaul and they don't have the personnel nor the IQ for such a complex offense! Considering the fact that he was successful in Phoenix, he'll be under more pressure and have heightened expectations to provide a turnaround fast. Yet we all know it's going to take a long, lonnngggg time. So I'm not really feeling it myself. I think a Lee, Crawford and a couple of others might benefit from the system, but certainly not EDDY CURRY! The Knicks are going to have to draft really well. Most importantly, KNICKS FANS SUCH AS MYSELF WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT! I know they hate the term REBUILDING, but that is what we are doing and that's what needs to be done.

What concerns me is if what if they are good in the regular season?

D'Antoni has proven himself to be a mediocre playoff coach.

He has thrown himself into the market of New Yorkers....good luck to him, but I can't see him doing much.

That's another argument I made: The Suns defense in the playoffs have been appalling!! Amare Stoudamire looked clueless this year on D!! He needs to hire a defensive coach!

I'm reading this book by Red Auerbach, he said that he traded so much to get Bill Russell and it happened that the 1st time Red actually saw him play in person was after he made the deal. Bill had a horrible game that night and Red was wondering if he had made the biggest mistake of his life. Yet, he saw something in Russell after they sat down to have dinner after the game that made him realize that he had a special player.

The Celtics need to wake up and find their defense that they had the first two games against these Cavs. They need to focus on getting this lead to single digits for the 4th quarter. It's been the supporting cast of the Cavs that have burned them so far.
