My Response to a Disappointing Finish
Well, here's my response to the New England Patriots' loss in the Super Bowl tonight.
Being a Patriots fan (bandwagon or not), I'm disappointed, of course. First, though, I want to congratulate the New York Giants for playing a great game and pulling off a huge upset. They deserved it, and I have to admire their performance even though I hate it. I also want to extend my congratulations to their fans, of which I am not one and never have been.
Second, the Patriots have nobody to blame but themselves. They had the most potent offense anybody could ask for, and they scored only 14 points. There can be no excuse for that. They had everything they needed, and they just didn't get it done.
Third, it's not the end of the world. There's always next year. No use crying over something that doesn't change my life or the world.
Fourth, I will continue to root for the Patriots. I still admire them for all the reasons I listed in a previous lockerroom post. This defeat has absolutely no effect on my Patriots fanship.
Fifth, we will have to listen to the 1972 Miami Dolphins until the day their last member dies. Nobody will ever have another undefeated season. Period.
