As of right now the Mets have an hour to get a deal done and they are currently in a stalemate, as a Phils fan im delighted at this development....

As a Tigers fan, I'm not. I don't want to have to deal with him in the Central anymore

Neither side wants to walk away from the table at this point. The Mets especially, this would crush their fans who already were crushed when they blew the East. They would love to hang a championship banner on opening day at their new stadium.

the mets would be dumb not to get a deal done, they could trade him maybe 3-4 years later if they wished considering he would waive his no trade clause in this new deal...

There's no way that happens...

If Santana sucks, no one will take him (not probable)

If he plays well, but they wanna trade him (WHY?), who can take him...Boston, NYY, Los Angeles (of Los Angeles of Anaheim)...San Fran maybe?

well it seems the Mets are so scared of a long term deal they only want 5 so after 5 years why not just trade him

First of all, why does there seem to be this Phillies-Red Sox connection...everyone seems to like the Phils as their second fav team behind the sox...

Is it because of the Trenton Thunder?

Secondly...there is Noooooo way this deal doesn't get done...I'd be happy if it didn't, but I don't see how the Mets don't cave here...or Santana cave...but probably the Mets...

I'd be happy if I was wrong...

Trenton Thunder is a Yankees affiliate... and I may be the only Sox fan who dislikes the Phillies... (I'm a fan of the rest of the Philly teams... but I'm not a Phillies fan... long story)

We need Pean to create the "Papertowel" gift. Because if the trade doesn't go thru we'll have something to send all the Mets fans so they can wipe the egg off their faces.

If the trade doesn't go thru then the Twins will have lost all credibility. They couldn't get a deal done with Boston, the Yankees told them to go screw themselves, now they're trying to trade a Mercedes for a couple Yugos. After this they won't be able to trade him to Tampa.....

If the Met's don't sign him I would imagine he will end up not getting traded. They will never get anything close to what he is worth.

they wouldn't be getting much from the Mets right now... if I were a Minnesota fan, I'd be rooting for a stalemate so that Santana may be traded elsewhere, because they can't get much less than what they'll be getting from the Mets

exactly the twins showed weakness in taking the lackluster Mets offer i think the Sox and Yanks both saw they were offering up way too much and if there is another Johan sweepstakes the offers will be less great

I think the Tigers forced the Twins hand a little when they traded for Cabrera and Willis. The Twins had to know they couldn't compete in the Central after that. At least they are getting something for him and saving $13 million.
