Which is why this is only the first time he's won it. :P Just messing with you, FP.

Well I was wrong....but come on, Kobe has a hall of fame resume and has not even won a regular season MVP. Paul will get it next year, stop complaining.

Meh, I guess he deserved it as much as anybody. I mean, I'd have rather seen CP3 or LeBron cop the hardware, but it's not like it's a huge crime for Kobe to win his first MVP. And like SSR said, young guys like Paul or LeBron will have plenty more chances to win it, while Kobe is (shockingly) going on 30. So congrats to Kobe.

I could've easily seen Kobe, Paul, or LBJ win. However, if Kobe got more votes than anyone else, I'm pretty sure it's because they don't feel sorry that he hasn't won MVP all these years. They could've voted for him for MVP last year over Dirk or the year before over Nash. The voters definitely saw something in Kobe this year more than anything else. After those two major injuries of the PFs, he was still able to take his team to the #2 seed, 1 game behind the Hornets. AMAZING.

I think when the Hornets stumbled down the stretch while Kobe led his team from the #3 seed to the #1 seed in a week did it for the voters.

Oh yeah! My bad. So that's another reason why he won the MVP. I'm an idiot! #8 seed Nuggets got swept by the Lakers! (slaps head)

Good for Kobe. He had an excellent season, not to take anything away from CP3 or LeBron or even KG.

Of course, that could put a jinx on the Lakers. When is the last time an NBA Regular Season MVP made the NBA Finals?

And I believe he is the only one in this decade to do so (and win one).

I guess it depends on whether you count 1999-2000 (Shaq) as part of this decade or the nineties. But even if you do, only 3 MVPs have made the Finals so far; in the 90s, the MVP made the Finals 7 times and won it 5 times.

Of course, the MVP voters would have had even better accuracy if they made the criteria simply be: "Pick Michael Jordan. If Jordan is retired, pick Hakeem Olajuwon."

If he didn't win it, I would have lost all respect for the award.

I lost respect when they chose anybody over Michael Jordan in the late 80s and 90s.
