Javon Walker Found Injured on Las Vegas Street Corner

Posted by LASportsblog

TMZ and just recently ESPN.com have reported that Oakland Raiders wideout Javon Walker was found out cold on a vegas street corner with a busted eye socket and other significant injuries. Little has been released on the incident but it's fair to say Javon was somewhere he shouldn't of been - whether or not he was doing something bad or wrong has yet to be determined. It is obvious that whatever happened didn't happen on a casino floor or club floor otherwise there would be some bystanders available for interview. This is a fishy situation and the Raiders have to be losing sleep because they just signed this guy to a 55 million dollar contract. If Walker is someway in the wrong, be assured the Raiders have his contract written in a way so that they can drop him like a bad habit.

There's a good chance there is a whole lot more to this than meets the eye, and it may not be Javon's fault. If you remember back Javon was there in Denver the night his teammate (who's name slips my name now) was shot and killed 2 years ago now. He has never heal right mentally from having held his friend as he died. In addition that was a gang related shooting, and what I took from a HBO sports intereview is Javon knew more about that whole situation than he let on. Sadly this may be the first sight that the chickens are coming home to roost.

The guy you're thinking of is Darrant Williams.

I've made some calls out to Las Vegas to see if any of my friends have heard anything on the streets. There at least wasn't a known plan to rob Javon Walker, but it seems apparent that some sort of gang-related robbery has happened according to the locals.

The gang scene is LV has never been has violent as it is today and leaving your Casino and it's built in security is putting your life in your own hands.

I agree - there is plenty of story to still be uncovered here.

Needless to say after this incident and the talks I had this morning I'll be taking a cab straight from the airport to my hotel and never leaving the Mirage complex.

I remember when (Philadelphia Eagles DE) Jerome McDougal was shot in Miami...it was weird for the first few days...turns our someone was just trying to steal his mercedes... You drive around in a mercedes, wear expensive clothes and have a lot of cash (as I would imagine someone in vegas might) and you certainly increase your potential to be involved in violence...

Ya JuT, my Mom (who grew up in Vegas) was thinking it could be more shady then I even guessed: She was telling me when she was growing up in the 70s it was already becoming a refined process to have a girl from the gang attract a high roller into leaving a casino and as soon as they get to a dark area her gang jumps the guy. It wouldn't be difficult if he was a little tipsy.

that's not to say my mom was in a gang per se, but she grew up in the neighborhood and had eyes and ears.

Well thats part of it though its very easy to target people in Vegas when you have youngbuck central rolling through trying to make it rain every 20 mins at every random spot in the city. I mean they dont do that when they roll out in NYC or in ATL, so I dont get why they figure they can be a complete ass in Vegas.

I went to Vegas one time with my Mom and somehow, mysteriously and quite drunkenly ended up at a crack house... No, I didn't smoke any crack, but everytime I think about it, I wonder... how the hell did someone NOT smack me in the head with a brick and take my money??

You don't have to look for trouble in Vegas. It WILL find you if you aren't busy avoiding it.

Every time I've been back since has been MUCH more safe and lots more FUN... partying at the Playboy Club at the Palms with Chuck Liddell beats the shit out of sitting on a cushionless sofa in a crack house a block and a half away from Stratosphere - EVERY time!!!

Anyone who has ever stayed in Loss Vegas longer than they were able to stay awake has been there...

AS for the Raiders... I think Al Davis is loving it. As long as Walker can play on-the-field the off-the-field stuff just plays into the image "Leatherface" Davis loves.

Oakland is an image conscious town... just look at the people who live there!!! Eek!

(It's not "Oakland face with an LA booty" for a very good reason!)

I just hope the eye socket injury isn't a serious one. If it is, (I know this is cold) they can always cut him and void the contract.

I read that he was throwing down $15k a shot for champagne and spraying the crowds at clubs with it...if that doesn't make you a ripe target I don't know what would. That being said, it sucks and I hope he is able to heal up and return to the Raiders.
