Indians 2B Asdrubal Cabrera turns unassisted Triple Play
In the second game of tonite's doubleheader between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland Indians, Tribe second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera turned just the fourteenth unassisted triple play in ML history. With runners Kevin Mench (second base) and Marco Scutaro (first base) running on the pitch, Lyle Overbay hit a liner which Cabrera caught with a diving play. He then tagged second base for out #2, then turned and tagged Scutaro to retire the side. The play marks the third unassisted triple play in Cleveland history, with Neal Ball in 1909 and Bill Wambsganss in the 1920 World Series turning the first two.
The game is currently scoreless in the top of the ninth inning, making the play a possible game saver.
