How To: Trade During the NFL Draft
So, you're probably asking yourself, "What's this Justin." The simple answer is, its the NFL Draft Pick Trade Chart, initially designed by Jimmy Johnson and brought to you via ProFootball talk (its their image, but the info is generally public knowledge).
In a nutshell, for those of you who don't know, the draft chart works like this: Each pick is assigned a point value; like the first pick is worth 3,000 points. In order to trade up in the draft, generally you must provide an equal number of points back in order to accomplish the trade. However, depending on the players available, the value is adjusted and/or one team will have to take less or pay more. When the Cleveland Browns traded up to acquire Brady Quinn, they most likely paid more (I didn't look up the values).
If players are involved in the trade, all bets are off, however you could probably make an guesstimation as to the pick and therefore the value.
So have fun guessing at some potential trades
