Well, if you didnt here the Eagles-Bengals game (if thats what you wanna call it) just ended in a 13-13 tie. Bengals missed a field goal in OT to win it. What do you think about it?

Reid has to go. They talk about the window closing on a team (we see this with the Dallas Mavericks in bball) and the window on the Eagles is closed. And once it is closed the only thing to do is pack up and move on to something new. That means Reid needs to go, he has coached very poorly this year.

I'll tell you what, the thing about Reid is he is a very good coach throughout the week gameplanning and keeping players disciplined ect.. but thru his whole career he has been a bad gameday coach and the Eagles have always had questionable late/big game playcalling

In my morning paper, the beat reporter rumored that Mike Holmgren might take the GM job in San Fran, which could mean trying to bring his former protege/doppleganger with him to be head coach. I don't know if it's realistic given Holmgren's desire to take a football vacation, but it's worth thinking about.

Which would end all hope for the 49ers organization.

"In my morning paper, the beat reporter rumored" Am I missing something? I thought that was the jobb of everyone's morning paper beat writer. After all, if they were any good, they wouldn't be your morning paper's beat writer, would they?

I've been saying for two years that Reid has to go, McNabb needs to play in a different offense, and the team needs someone besides Brian Westbrook to be a game changer. I appreciate everything that Reid has done, but his success in Philadelphia seems to have reached his mark. It is time for a new face, a new era, a new way to get things done. The NFL strageties are constantly changing and adjusting to new ideas. Philadelphia can't win with Reid recently out-dating thinking...

It's interesting to note what is happening with the longest-tenured coaches in the NFL. Jeff Fisher has been a solid, if inconsistent coach during his tenure, and now (15 seasons) he's having the best season he's ever had.

Shanahan (14 years) is struggling a bit. Reid (10 years) is struggling. Holmgren (10 years) is struggling.

It's unusual for coaches to last more than about 5 years, and the NFL currently has at least four that have lasted more than 10. Maybe there is just a shelf life for coaches.

Who knows what potential coaches have come and gone while these coaches have been in the head job? Sometimes coaches have to go, even if they have served their team well. The Eagles are a lot better for Reid having been here. But perhaps they just need something different now.

Who can say, really? Similar things were being said about Bill Cowher and then he up and won the Super Bowl in his 14th season.

Huh?

Falcon's been the only guy who's close to the sentiments of Philadelphia (fans and media alike).

The Eagles FO is throwing McNabb under the bus. I'm fairly pro-McNabb and the guy did have a bad game...which makes the continued throwing (58 times) all the dumber by the head coach.

Most are now turning on Reid. He got his 3 year vacation/pass for getting to the SB...that's over now and they've missed the playoffs (probably) 3 of the last 4 years. His drafts have become spottier, his best talent is aged and his playbook is downright readable (ask Jonathan Joseph).

McNabb isn't truly washed up. He had a bad game. He does need a change though. If dropping McNabb end the Reid era, then that's what needs to happen, but you can mark it down, you haven't heard the last of Donovan McNabb.

SS - Reid isn't going to get fired as season's end, i'm about 80% sure McNabb will take the hit and the Kold era will start before he gets canned.

PSU - Speak english, and then start trying to talk about football

Simms - Reid's actually been out of favor since post 2005. He's not very well liked amongst the die-hard fans. You're right, he's a miserable gameday coach, but his gameplanning has really fallen off as well. He refuses to change what-so-ever

BigP - Closed is a relative term. This team, in its present form is done, but they've got talent on the roster in lots of spots. When did the window open on the giants (pretty sure it was the Super Bowl, no one liked that team until the Monday afterwards). Anyways, give them a new coach and a new plan and they could be back in 2 years...

Now if the smart guy (Lurie) could jus can Reid, McNabb and Westbrook's careers don't have to go for naught. Both are capable winners and this team just needs an offseason adjustment or two to come back to form. They're still 5-4-1 out of the best division in football...they're not the Lions here...

Is the NFC East the best division in football? It's a debatable point right now. The NFC South has 4 teams that are .500 or better. The AFC East has 4 teams that are .550 or better. The NFC East is only marginally better (in terms of wins) than the AFC East. It could be argued that the NFC East is in decline now that the Eagles and Redskins are faltering. The jury is out on the Cowboys as to whether or not they can ressurrect their promising season. I'm not knocking the NFC East per se, but I am getting a little weary of hearing about how great it is. There are other divisions that can make a legit claim to that title.

Would you rather the Steelers play the:

Giants or Panthers?...Jets?

Redskins or Bucs?...Patriots?

Cowboys or Falcons?...Dolphins?

Eagles or Saints?...Bills?

The only case I could see is a preference for the Bucs or Pats over the Skins...beyond that?

I don't see anybody on that list that the Steelers would need to run away from. They gave the Giants all they could handle and beat the Redskins. The Panthers are beatable, as are the Bucs.

My argument wasn't really about what the Steelers could do. The Jets, Tennessee or Denver are probably not quaking at the prospect of facing an NFC East team. Would any NFC East team really want to play against the Jets, Titans, Steelers or Broncos? I'll bet none of them want to see the Bengals again.

By the same token, I'd wager that NFC East teams would just as soon not play the Panthers, Bucs or Cardinals. I see nothing that leads me to believe that the NFC East is any better than the NFC South or the AFC East. Or Tennessee.

I would feel more comfortable watching the eagles run an NFC South or AFC East gambit (3 of 4, you pick) than play three NFC East teams...

I know this is late and all and doesnt make up for the Eagles playing so poorly and Rein coaching so poorly but the Bengals did play the Cowboys and the Giants really tight. They actually took the Giants to overtime.. On another note, did Donovan Mcnabb, a veteran quarterback, really not know there were no ties in the NFL? What the hell is that? I mean I have no words to describe how shocked I was when he said he thought there was another overtime coming up... That is just.. wow
