Here's Why I Am a Patriots Fan

Posted by Napoleon15

There's a gang of Patriot-haters on this site, that seem to be annoyed by the fact that I like the Patriots. They insist that I am merely a bandwagon fan, who wanders from team to team rooting only for teams that win. So, here are the real reasons that I root for the Patriots.

ONE. I intensely dislike the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts regularly beat up the Broncos, which doesn't endear them to me by any means. It's only natural, then, for me to root for the Colts' arch-rivals, the New England Patriots. The Patriots beating the Colts is the closest I can get to revenge at this point.

TWO. I really like Tom Brady. Peyton Manning is the face of the hated Colts, so I naturally root for his arch-rival. I also admire Brady's poise and coolness under pressure. In addition, he does not have remarkable physical talents, but he is one of the smartest players in the game, another trait I admire.

THREE. I hate the San Diego Chargers. The Patriots have halted the Chargers' Super Bowl run two years in a row, which naturally makes me like them.

FOUR. I like Bill Belichick. The Genius. The man who can fluster any offense around. Whether you like him or not, you have to admire his remarkable coaching and gameplanning skills.

FIVE. I dislike the Steelers. I admire the Steelers for playing the game the way it was intended (hard, physical defense and running game), but I still have no love for them. I was glad both times the Patriots stopped them in the playoffs.

SIX. I have always admired the Patriots unselfish, team spirit and coolness under pressure. That's the same reason I like the Detroit Pistons.

SEVEN. They're widely hated by other fans. The more they're hated, the more I like them.

EIGHT. They used to be underdogs. They were never given much of a chance against powerhouses like the Rams, Colts, Steelers, and Chargers, yet still managed to pull off a victory somehow. I like to root for the underdog a lot, and the Patriots were, until this year, often the underdogs.

So there you have it. I like the Patriots because they're the enemies of the Broncos enemies. They have beaten teams I dislike (Raiders, Rams, Colts, Steelers, and Chargers) eight out of nine times in the playoffs. I also like Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, and admire their style of play. Finally, there is no reason that I, being a Bronco fan, should not root for the Patriots. They beat our foes, yet they rarely beat us.

Brady's tantrums have a direct subject most of the time. Although the sight hasn't been seen since Pats v. Colts in 2004, Manning has a history of just looking like a cry baby (the I can't believe I got beat by the Pats again look). They seem to have switched roles since the Playoff loss last year. Brady is the one putting up the stats with the big name WRs, and Manning is the one who's looking more friendly on the field, and not throwing fits very often.

I mean, even I have ties...I'd like to see the vikings succeed because of Brad Childress (former eagles OC) or I'd like to see Ron Rivera get a job and I'll hope the Ravens do well next year because of Harbaugh...and if/when McNabb goes somewhere else, I'd like to see him do well...

but i'm not a fan of any of those teams...i wouldn't claim to be...you're in that same situation, but you say things like "I hope we win the superbowl" or "Man, I'm glad we drafted Peterson"...
