Help me out - Rushing in Madden

with 08 defense has a huge advantage and rushibg is very hard but the game is still a lot better than 07

Yeah, replies are welcome here, too, just figured that you'd benefit from asking two crowds.

first off, you need to hold down the sprint button. Beyond that, try running dives and counters, more between-the-tackles running. More Effective. Run play action. Computers start to pick up tendancies, and if they have to respect the pass out of every formation that you run play action out of. Finally, try a variety in your play calling. Some times certain people can play madden better in different ways. Oh, and give it time. I sucked at rushing when I started, but now I can do franchise and get LT 2800 yards, and 4000 total yards. It takes time

If you're playing a defense that has a strong LB corps you want to stay inside because as soon as you try to bump it outside they will run you down real quick. Also, if you are kinda new to Madden, it's always a good idea to run out of the I Form so you have a lead blocker. Another good idea is a misdirection run. Those work real well when faced with an over or under 4-3 defense. Just run to the opposite side of the overload and run to daylight! And one final thing, if you do run to the outside, don't automatically run to the sideline. There might be a corner over there who is either unlbocked or had shed the block. As soon as your last blocker finds someone, cut upfield and run north!

Have you guys beaten the Patriots? They're so freakin impossible. Madden overestimated how good they are. Even their biggest weakness (secondary) got 4 interceptions off me.

A trick that works in Madden 05 - use the Goal Line package, HB dive play. Even on All-Pro difficulty level, you can get a good half 3 yards per play, and you have the chance to break out. Also, eventually, the D will follow where you're running. Then you switch the play, and keep the same formation. Then you'll run where they're not expecting it, so you'll do well. If they pick up on the run, pass, because they'll be rubbish. That worked on All-Pro just - I lost 13-10 to the Seahawks, but that was mainly due to having recievers that couldn't get open or catch. Clinton Portis (I used Fantasy Draft mode as Green Bay) ran for >100 yards though, and he got my solitary TD. What difficulty level are you playing?

3.5 yards per rush isn't that bad - if you do that for three rushes, you get a 1st down. Do that all down the field, job done!
